Last week Hannah made a leprechaun trap at day care. The kids worked hard on them all week after school and by Friday we're pretty excited about setting them up at home to see if they could catch a leprechaun. The legend (according to daycare) is that if you trap one, he'll leave you some gold coins (chocolate of course) in exchange for his freedom.
Well, we weren't filled in on "the legend" by day care so Hannah set up her trap Friday night only to be devastated the next morning when the leprechaun hadn't come. Being the quick thinking parents we are, we convinced her that unlike Santa the leprechauns did not have sleighs and could not visit so many houses on such little legs in one night. Fortunately she agreed to try the trap one more night (it was still St. Patricks Day.)
The next morning she was thrilled to see the leprechauns had performed their legendary mischief by upsetting chairs, emptying kitchen cupboards and throwing shoes up into the chandelier. But best of all, they left her cookies. We hear there was a run on gold coins and the leprechauns switched to Keebler, I mean leprechaun cookies but all was well now since Hannah declared the trap a success!
