Camp Robbinswold was the site of our 2013 fall Encamporee. Since we are such a large troop we had all of Cedar Ledge to ourselves. This was the girl's first time camping in open air cabins and they did awesome!
This year started off better than last in that we had no sick kids at dinner on the way up. We arrived at about 6:00PM and finally got all the girls and parents settled into their cabins around 7:30PM. We let the girls run around a bit with flashlights and then we corralled everyone and got them into pajamas and had them brush their teeth. After that we made fairy lights by emptying glow sticks into jars and then sprinkling glitter into them. Top it off with the lid and shake and you have a fairy light. It was fun watching the girls go back to their cabins, each with a fairy light lighting their way.
The next morning we roused everyone out of bed and got ready for breakfast. After breakfast in the lodge, we headed back to our unit and made nature collages. The girls looked for leaves, twigs, flowers and things and created some beautiful pictures. Their favorite part? Leaf Heaven! Leaf Heaven was an area behind the cabins full of fall leaves and for some reason the girls loved it!
The rest of our day was spent hiking, beachcombing and making survival bracelets out of paracord. For lunch, the girls made tacos in a bag. Dinner was in the lodge followed by an awesome campfire near the beach. The girls were much more into the campfire this year and performed a couple songs and a skit.
Sunday came too quickly, but I think everyone agreed that with the pouring rain that greeted us Sunday morning that it was time to pack up and head home. Another great Encamporee - can't wait until next year!
