Beautiful Braids

With my hand in a cast I haven't been able to do much with Hannah's hair other than putting it in a puff. Dad has tried to help, but let's just say he is hair challenged. :) I wanted Hannah to look nice for the first day of school so I asked Auntie Belinda if she knew any of salons near Olympia. Turns out one of the girls in her class lives in Olympia and her mom was willing to braid Hannah's hair.

DeSandra did an absolutely amazing job! This family is amazing! They have a little boy that was so smitten with Hannah that he hung around for the two hours it took to braid her hair so that he could talk to her. :) Stephanie is a senior and is a sweet girl and she babysits too! Both kids were great and we really enjoyed just talking with the whole family.

When we were done, DeSandra even offered to braid her hair again and she refused to let me pay her! DeSandra, Stephanie and Stephen you are truly a blessing in our lives.

Hannah wanted so badly to make something out of wood and apparently a nice easy bird house kit form Michaels just wouldn't work. So off to Home Depot we went to buy some lumber and screws, hoping the screws were the right kind and also long enough.

Well the screws weren't the best kind for what we had in mind but John made them work. Not being the handiest parents, we did the best we could and our daughter got to explore something new and now believes she can really build things. Priceless!


Yep, that's a real power drill and one brave Dad.

First Grader!

Wednesday marked the start of another school year and the beginning of first grade. This girl was so excited for school to start. She could not wait to get back to school and all her friends!

Some big changes this year. Instead of two classes, all the kids are in one class. Hannah has her own desk, music and computer class twice a week and real homework! While she is not too keen on the homework, she loves the rest and her new teacher Ms. Graver.

Splish Splash - Last Summer Bash

The last daycare field trip of the year was a trip to Wild Waves. Somehow 13 kids at a water park was not our idea of a super safe outing for our non-swimmer so I went along, cast and all to keep an eye on Hannah. The weather was perfect at 85 and sunny and Hannah had a great time in the wave pool and pirates playground.

I caught these shots of her posing for the camera before she jumped in to enjoy the waves. I don't know where she picks up these model-like poses. :)
