Girl Scout Camp 2013

Hannah went to two different camps this year. In July she went to Camp Robbinswold with her friend and fellow Girl Scout, Alana. There were only 5 girls in their session so they got to try everything and had lots of one on one counselor time with their 4 counselors. Her favorite this year was the overnight trip sleeping on the beach. The girls had lots of fun and awesome weather too!

At the end of July it was off to Camp St. Albans with Edith, another little girl from our scout troop. They had 12 girls this time. They still got to try lots of new things.  Hannah's favorite was visiting and petting the horses. What a surprise! Next year she wants to go back to St. Albans for horse camp. As a fourth grader she'll finally be old enough for horse camp. SHE. CAN'T. WAIT!

So glad our girl loves camp and all the special memories made there.

Happy Fourth of July!

We had a great fourth if July with the Hays. They invited the neighbors and some friends for a party complete with barbeque, water slide and bouncy house. To top off the night the kids lit sparklers and had a blast with boxes of pop-its. Good friends, food and fun, thanks Jim and Tara!

Summer!

Finally summer! It took a while for the sun to come out in the Pacific Northwest this year so when it did we headed out to enjoy a dinner on the deck at Dukes with Grandma and Grandpa and Matt. After dinner we took a walk along the beach and had fun talking and playing until the sun started to set. Thanks Grandma and Grandpa for a wonderful dinner and great company. Love you guys!

Girl Scout Ceremonies

In June we marked the end of our first year of Brownies with a Court of Awards ceremony. This is a ceremony where the girls receive the badges and awards they earned. We also had a bridging ceremony to bridge Iris to Junior Girl Scouts and an investiture ceremony to welcome Sarah to our troop. It was great to see the girls as they shared with their parents what they learned. I also loved the the way they celebrated Iris becoming a Junior Scout. Lots of support and a little sadness too saying good-bye to a good friend. They also enthusiastically welcomed their new friend Sarah. Love how great our girls are.

I'm so proud of the girls and enjoy seeing how they are growing in confidence and their abilities. Next year will be even more fun as the girls take on a greater role in planning and doing our troop activities.

Big Sis

It's official Hannah is a big sister! Her little sister, Belen is 3 years old and will turn four on August 23rd. Hannie is so excited and can't wait to meet her new sister in person! Hopefully, she still feels that way once Belen is in to all her things. :) Hannah will make an awesome big sister and is helping to get their room ready for her and picking out clothes and other necessities. Can't wait to see these two girls together!

Horse Heaven

Hannah is IN to horses now. So she was in heaven the other day when she and Nora got to help a family friend feed her horses.

Hannie is so into horses that she has decided that she would like to have a horse for her sixteenth birthday instead of a car. Don't quite know how to break it to her, but we weren't planning on buying her a car for her 16th birthday and it is a lot easier to find a garage for a car than a place to board a horse. I think gas is cheaper too. Looks like this girl is going to have settle for horse camp to get her horse fix. :)

Look Who's Riding a Two-Wheeler!

Look who can ride a two-wheeler! After much practice and a lot of "miles" running along side a certain little girl on a bike, Hannah learned to ride her bike without training wheels! She had a little trouble getting going at first but now has the hang of it. I think we only had two minor spills. Not bad baby girl. Now she loves riding her bike and frequently asks Daddy to take her out for a ride.
