In April, Hannah's Daisy Girl Scout troop participated in a community service project to plant a ton of potatoes that will be harvested in the fall and donated to the food bank.
The girls had a lot of fun and got to learn a little about potatoes too. We never knew that you plant potatoe halves to grow new potatoes. The next thing some of us learned (translated mom here) is that following rain, one should wear boots for planting and not white tennis shoes. Next time.
We had a great time and it is neat to see the girls supporting their community. Now for the fun part, weeding. Yep, we get to weed our row throughout the summer. Hope they like weeding as much as they did planting. Maybe the lure of being able to harvest them in the fall will entice them to weed.
